Semillon Soul Mates

Semillon Soul Mates

The only white wine in our iconic line-up; the Sweetwater Semillon.

While splendid to enjoy in solidarity, our Semillon is also a perfect partner when it comes to culinary delights.  Whether you’re looking for a superb dinner spread, or some original afternoon nibbles – here are our top picks for the Sweetwater Estate Hunter Valley Semillon.

Something small…

A modern take on a 1970s classic, Elizabeth Hewson’s Mortadella Party Sticks are cute and crunchy way to kick-start a dinner party. Consider pairing with the 2023 Sweetwater Semillon, which gives apples on the nose; a very approachable and textured pour.

Rich and saucy…

Yotam Ottolenghi and Noor Murad’s Hot-Mess Curried Cauliflower Cheese Filo Pie is a golden brown bubbly rich parcel of crispy pastry and rich flavourful flowing sauce. The 2023 Sweetwater Semillon is going to cut straight through that richness, with the citrus notes of the wine singing alongside the velvety gooeyness of this hearty main event.

Simple green vegetables…

Here is the perfect low effort (but very high reward) dish to serve your guests, alongside a bottle of Sweetwater Semillon.

Michael Van de Elzen’s Grilled Asparagus and Broccoli Tart is a jubilant spread of vegetables. A terrific tart to throw together for a mid-week meal or when visitors pop in.

Juicy juicy chicken…

It is hard to go past a classic pairing like Semillon and roast chicken. This Pot-Roasted Chicken From du Fermier’s Annie Smithers is a French-style rôti (think butter, oil, and a very healthy splash of wine). Bon appétit!

Summer stunner…

We’ll also be sipping on a Semillon with this simple celebration of tomatoes, from an Australian icon. Stephanie Alexander’s Quintessential Summer Salad must be the most perfect summer pairing for our Sweetwater white. Five ingredients. Lip-smacking. Spectacular.
