"Rara avis, the straight Cabernet from the Hunter. Not many people make it. Ask Bryan Currie, he’ll tell you. He made this one and it’s rara good. It’s definitely on the tart, savoury end of the Cabernet spectrum, so if you’re fond of big, ripe flavours and jammy fruit, this ain’t for you. Bright crunchy currants set deeply in graphite, a hint of rose, savoury meaty finish with raspberries and a bit of dusty wood tannins. All in an energetic flow with a hint of sweet liquorice, sage and cumin, nothing really green-offensive about it. Savoury, fresh style, and quite charming." (Sept 2023)
