Established in 1998, we have been working tirelessly to showcase the Hunter Valley’s unique terroir and heritage vines. To this day, we continue to be recognised as one of the finest, premium quality wine producers of the region.
Sweetwater Estate wines are exclusively sourced from the premium fruit grown on the Sweetwater Estate property. Located just 55 minutes north-east of Newcastle, and just 10 minutes from Cessnock, in the Lower Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, Australia.
Our vines were planted back in the mid-1990’s, where our focus was semillon, shiraz, and cabernet sauvignon. More recently, we’ve planted touriga nacional and mataro which will be very soon ready for special release.
All our current vintage, and special museum release wines are available for tasting at our sister-venue Hungerford Hill, which is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
The Château
The Sweetwater vineyard is unique for red loamy soil over limestone, and is located on the east face of the elevated Sweetwater Ridge.
Our beautifully restored Chateau, in the heart of Australia’s oldest wine region. Nestled upon heritage vineyards discovered back in the 1800’s, with picturesque views from the elevated – Sweetwater Ridge.
Our wines
All estate grown, we produce distinctive wines of the highest quality, with a fragrant floral fruit character and rich textural tannins. Soils akin to those in the Coonawarra, our red loamy soil over limestone produces some of the best cabernet and shiraz in Australia.
